We want to thank Tim and Ava and everyone at Home Routes headquarters for a great tour! It was wonderful to travel through our home province and make some new friends and connections on the mainland and Sunshine Coast. You can check some of our photos and posts from the road on our new Facebook page “Old Paint Duo”. Thanks everyone who came to the shows, brought their friends, and bought CD’s. Much love to you all!

Dear friends, our album is finished!

You can purchase our album through CD Baby, iTunes, etc, or directly through us by sending your mailing address and a $20 dollar e-transfer to oldpaintband{at}gmail.com. We are also on Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc. So excited to finally share this project!

A little bit more about making this album…

In the spring of 2018 we met up with our good friend of many years, Tad Ruszel, a wonderful musician and recording engineer, who was keen to help us finally make an album. We chose some of our favourite songs, some original, some covers, some traditional, and recorded through the spring and fall. We used different rooms in our house, recording some tracks live off the floor, and some with full separation. We took our time and really enjoyed getting to know the material we had already played a lot, as well as some of the newer original songs, getting deep into the world of each song until it felt just right.

The album features half original material and half covers from some of our favourite solo and duo artists – including Hank Williams, Dolly & Porter and The Louvin Brothers. It also features some amazing guest musicians – Jesse Cobb (mandolin), Alex Rempel (bass), and Miles Zurawell (banjo). Recording these songs was an honour and we owe much to our friend Tad Ruszel, always enthusiastic, supportive and meticulous in all the best ways.

Making music is something we live for. Every time we sit down and play, time stops, worries fade and everything feels good…we hope to have captured this feeling in our music, and we cannot wait to share our first album with you all.
